Karimnagar: Tiger movement was detected between Bahaddurkhanpet and Vedugatta villages in Karimnagar rural mandal, triggering alert among residents and the authorities.
Though a cow was found dead near Puligutta on Sunday night, villagers initially suspected that it had been killed by some other animal. However, on Tuesday, farmers noticed pugmarks of a tiger along the bunds of agricultural fields. Some villagers also reported hearing the roar of the animal.
Suspecting the movement of a tiger, locals alerted forest department officials. Acting on the information, forest officials visited the spot and confirmed the presence of the tiger after examining the pugmarks. Forest officials along with Karimnagar rural police have been camping in the area and are searching for the animal.
Suspecting that the tiger may be hiding in a maize field owned by Gurram Madhukar, forest and police personnel are conducting a search operation with the help of a drone.
As a precautionary measure, tom tom announcements were made in Charlabuthkur, Kondapur, Itrajpalli, Chamanapalli, Vedurugattam and Taherkondapur villages, advising residents not to venture out of their homes.
