Hyderabad: The Narsingi police investigating the drunk driving accident case in which a couple was killed on Monday said the driver of the car, Ch Sanjeeva, was confirmed to be in an inebriated condition, with nearly five times the normal and permissible blood alcohol content (BAC) level in his blood.
Officials said Sanjeeva drove the vehicle in a drunk condition, which amounted to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
“On taking a BAC test, his alcohol reading was 148 mg/100 ml of blood, whereas legally permissible limit is only 30 mg/100 ml of blood. This is almost five times the permissible limit,” said an official.
He was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody. On Monday, Sanjeeva, a resident of Shankarpally, had crashed his car into a scooter at Kokapet near Gandipet, killing Durgam Raju and his wife Mounika on the spot.
