Drunk PACS secretary booked for assaulting cotton farmer in Adilabad’s Gudihathnoor
Farmers expressed anger against the PACS secretary for abusing and assaulting a cotton farmer under the influence of liquor at an agriculture marketyard on Friday night.
Adilabad: A secretary of the Primary Cooperative Agriculture Society (PACS) here was on Sunday booked for allegedly assaulting a cotton farmer under the influence of liquor at an agriculture marketyard on Friday night.
Adilabad II Town Inspector N Nagaraju said a case was registered against Kendre Pandarinath, the secretary of the Gudihathnoor mandal PACS for beating and abusing Sande Mahesh from Jainath at the marketyard over procurement of cotton. Pandarinath was in an inebriated condition at the time of the incident. Investigations were taken up.
Earlier, farmers expressed anger against the secretary for assaulting and abusing the cotton farmer, prompting District Collector Rajarshi Shah to instruct the police to book a case against Pandarinath. Shah was learned to have told the officials to initiate departmental action against the secretary after conducting an inquiry into the incident.
Pandarinath was later placed under suspension with the Collector issuing the suspension orders. As per the order, his salary would also be withheld for for seven days. Meanwhile, another secretary from Munnur primary agriculture society was also placed under suspension for his role in the clash. His salary too was put on hold for seven days.
