Congress government has betrayed BC community again, says Talasani
The BRS has announced a crucial meeting of its BC leaders at Telangana Bhavan to decide the party’s future course of action over the Congress government’s failure to implement its promise of 42 per cent reservation for Backward Classes. Former Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav accused the Congress of deceiving BCs by failing to conduct a proper caste census.
Hyderabad: The BRS will decide its future course of action over the Congress Government’s unmet promise of the 42 percent reservation for the Backward Classes, with BC leaders of the party to discuss the issue at a crucial meeting scheduled to be held at Telangana Bhavan on Monday.
Announcing this at a media conference on Sunday, former Minister and Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the Congress government was deceiving the Backward Classes yet again.
He reminded that the Congress party, in its Kamareddy Declaration, had promised 42 percent reservation for BCs. However, the caste census was not conducted properly and the report of the Dedicated
Commission was not made public even to this day, he said, strongly criticizing the Congress for creating a ruckus at Jantar Mantar in Delhi in the name of a dharna without any of the top leaders of the party attending the protest.
Srinivas Yadav also lashed out at the government for failing to implement several promises made to the BCs, including allocation of Rs 20,000 crore per year under the BC Sub-Plan. Establishment of a dedicated ministry for the most backward classes (MBC) was one of the election promises made by the Congress, but it has turned out to be mere lip service.
Besides this, financial assistance to traditional artisans and handicraft workers was assured by the government, but that too remains unmet.
“Even after nearly two years, not a single promise has been fulfilled,” he said, demanding that the local body elections be conducted only after implementing the promised 42 percent reservation for BCs.
Accusing the Congress of cheating more than 50% of the State’s population, the BC community, with false promises, Srinivas Yadav warned that BC leaders and intellectuals would launch agitations across all districts in coordination to paralyse the government.
“BCs, who constitute over 50 percent of the population should be given their due. They are not seeking mere alms,” he said.
