Rajanna-Sircilla: A BRS activist and former MPTC, Karkaboina Kuntaiah, attempted suicide by consuming pesticides after being allegedly cheated by local realtors and receiving no response from the police despite repeated complaints.
According to family members, Kuntaiah, a native of Ankushapur village in Thangallapalli mandal, had accompanied other BRS workers to Hyderabad on Monday.
While the others returned to the village by night, Kuntaiah did not come back. Concerned about his whereabouts, his family lodged a complaint with the police, who traced his location using mobile signals.
Kuntaiah was found unconscious on the outskirts of the village on Tuesday morning. Upon learning that he had consumed pesticides; police rushed him to hospital for treatment.
In a suicide note purportedly written by him, Kuntaiah stated that realtor Ganga Krishna Reddy had occupied his land worth Rs 10 lakh, while another person, Nagaraju, had sold him fake land. Despite complaints, he claimed, police had failed to act.
“How can I perform my daughter’s marriage when I have nothing left?” he wrote.
