EAGLE Force cracks down on drug abuse, 14 consumers test positive across Telangana
The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau's EAGLE Force conducted simultaneous raids across multiple districts and commissionerates, leading to the detection of 14 drug consumers. Investigators linked the users to an alleged drug supply network and uncovered financial transactions exceeding Rs 3 lakh.
Hyderabad: In a statewide operation aimed at curbing drug consumption, the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau’s EAGLE Force caught 14 drug users across Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, Future City Commissionerates, and parts of Mahabubnagar and Nizamabad districts.
The operation was launched following intelligence received through the EAGLE Force toll-free WhatsApp helpline regarding an alleged drug supply network run by Chakrapani alias Chakri and Harshid Reddy.
According to the police, the duo, along with their associates, were allegedly sourcing cocaine, MDMA pills, LSD and hash oil from different States and supplying them to customers in Hyderabad and other locations.
Based on technical surveillance and analysis, officials identified dozens of individuals suspected to be connected to the network. Fifteen special teams were formed to conduct simultaneous raids at multiple locations.
Of the 19 suspects detained during the operation, 14 tested positive for cannabis. One individual also tested positive for methamphetamine.
Among those who tested positive were residents of Nagole, Vanasthalipuram, Chaitanyapuri, Karmanghat, Bowenpally, Santosh Nagar, Nizamabad, Medak and Manikonda.
Officials said the suspects admitted to purchasing ganja and other narcotic substances from Chakrapani and Harshid Reddy. Financial analysis revealed that the consumers had collectively transferred more than Rs 3 lakh to the alleged suppliers for procuring drugs.
Police officials noted that Chakrapani and Harshid Reddy were previously arrested in an NDPS case registered at Vanasthalipuram Police Station in 2019.
