Hyderabad: Huzurabad MLA elect Eatala Rajender on Saturday said he would hand over records pertaining to threats given by the police to people asking them to support the ruling party during Huzurabad assembly by-elections, to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

“Circle Inspectors of Police and Sub-Inspectors of Police called our people to the police station and threatened them. I have CDs,” Rajender said, referring to Director-General of Police M Mahendar Reddy.

Rajender was addressing a meeting organised by the BJP at the State office in Nampally to mark the party’s victory in Huzurabad. The police and other officials failed to discharge their duties as per law, he alleged.

“For the sake of promotions, the police worked cheaply during by-elections,” Rajender alleged, adding the salaries of the officials were given from taxes paid by the people. The officials should not forget that the BJP would come to power in elections in 2023.

Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Reddy, State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar and other leaders were also present.

Addressing the party activists, Kishan Reddy recalled his association with Rajender for the last 18 years. Sanjay said the party would organise ‘dappula mootha’ on November 9 in Hyderabad demanding the State government to implement Dalit Bandhu. He criticised the government for causing inordinate delay in purchasing paddy from farmers.
