ED raids eight locations in Hyderabad in sheep-rearing scam probe

The ED conducted searches at eight locations in Hyderabad on Wednesday in connection with the sheep-rearing scam. The raids target suspects linked to the 2017 subsidy scheme under the BRS government. The probe is based on ACB-filed FIRs.

Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) which has intensified the probe into the sheep-rearing scam has conducted searches at eight locations across the city on Wednesday.

As per available information, ED teams carried out searches at the residences and other premises which allegedly belonged to several suspects including Sabavath Ramachander, former managing director of the Telangana State Sheep and Goat Development Cooperative Federation (TSSGDCF), G Kalyan, OSD to former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav.

The ED initiated the probe under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), based on the FIRs filed by the ACB.

The ACB and ED are investigating the Sheep Distribution and Development Scheme (SRDS), which was launched by the BRS-led government in 2017, aiming to supply sheep on a subsidy.
