EESL to showcase Telangana LED streetlight success in Germany

Energy Efficiency Services Limited will showcase India’s energy-efficiency and clean-energy initiatives at an international study tour in Germany. Its presentation will include Telangana’s LED streetlighting project, which replaced conventional lights and delivered significant energy savings, according to EESL records.

Hyderabad: Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under the Ministry of Power, is set to showcase India’s experience and success in implementing energy-efficiency and clean-energy programmes across  States at knowledge-exchange programme in Ravensburg, Germany, from September 28 to October 2, 2026.

EESL has been invited by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) to participate in the international study tour. It would share its experience in energy efficiency, clean-energy solutions and sustainable development executed in development States.

EESL will be demonstrating the potential of scalable and locally adapted solutions to deliver energy savings, improve public services and support sustainable development.

These include energy-efficient cooking solutions in all Anganwadi centres in Andhra Pradesh; street-lighting initiatives in Telangana; decentralised solar systems in Maharashtra etc.

In Telangana, EESL has successfully implemented the energy-efficient LED street lighting project in the GHMC area by replacing nearly 5.5 lakh conventional street lights with energy-efficient LED street lights.

 As per EESL records, this has resulted in substantial energy savings of more than 61 percent leading to an annual energy saving of 230 Million Units (MU), reduction of 0.19 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum, and avoided peak demand of 60 MW.
