Minister Indrakaran Reddy being received by priests of the ancient Shivakoti temple in Nirmal on Monday.
Nirmal: Minister for Forest, Environment and Endowments Allola Indrakaran Reddy said efforts were on to develop temples in the district.
He took part in the ceremony of ‘vigraha prathishta’ of ancient Shivakoti temple at Bangalpet village here on Monday. He was joined by Zilla Parishad Chairperson K Vijayalaxmi.

Stating that spiritual environment abounded in the temples, Indrakaran Reddy said a grant of Rs 50 lakh was sanctioned for renovating the temple and promised to release Rs 15 lakh for constructing compound wall around it.
Expert sculptors from Banaras and Mahabalipuram were roped in for moulding the idol of the temple, he said, added that various temples have been built in Nirmal in the past six years. Mahalaxmi temple located at Bangalpet would get a facelift with an expenditure of Rs 1 crore, the Minister said.
Indrakaran Reddy recalled that the country’s second monkey rescue and rehabilitation centre was established in Nirmal which was inaugurated recently. He was felicitated by members of the governing council of the temple for playing a vital role in the renovation of the temple.
