Hyderabad: The research scholars of the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) will now be able to track the status of their PhD thesis at just a click of a button with the university launching ‘Track the Status of your PhD thesis, a web application.
Conceived by EFLU Vice-Chancellor and UGC member Prof E Suresh Kumar, the web application is perhaps the first of its kind that enables scholars to track their thesis status using their roll number and a password. Right from the submission, the scholar is assured about the progress of the thesis and the completion of the process of acquiring the degree.
So far, the evaluation process was kept in secrecy by the Office of Controller of Examinations and scholars could only wait patiently until the evaluation was done. Now, using their roll number and a password set by them, the research scholars can access details of when the first, second and third review reports were received.
Besides, the scholars can know details of when the review committee met to peruse the report sent by the examiners. The new web application will also help the scholars find the date of the viva voce examination. With the tracking system in place, the scholar will also be assured of fairness and transparency in the process.
As the status of the PhD thesis is available at the click of a button, this will not just ease the stress on scholars but also help them prepare better for their viva voce examination. The student-friendly web application which has been developed by the EFLU’s in-house technical team can be accessed on a smartphone or computer or a similar gadget.
“During my PhD days, thesis evaluation was kept in secrecy and nobody knew until it was evaluated completely. Due to lack of information, students used to get frustrated. I wanted to change this old practice and bring in a new system where students can get information easily.
I feel privileged to launch ‘Track the Status of your PhD thesis, a student-friendly web application for the university scholars where they can get information on their thesis at just click of a button,” Prof Suresh Kumar said.
