Eight arrested for clash inside Kothagudem police station

Eight persons were arrested after two groups involved in a family dispute clashed inside the Kothagudem Three Town police station premises. The accused allegedly assaulted each other and obstructed police personnel on duty before being arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

Kothagudem: Police arrested eight persons for clashing in the Kothagudem Three Town police station premises over a family dispute on Friday.

In a statement, Kothagudem DSP Adinarayana said that while the district police were engaged in security duties for the Ganesh immersion, two groups had come to the police station regarding a family dispute involving Koradala Kumar and his wife Vinoda.

At that time, a verbal altercation escalated, leading to mutual abuse and physical assaults. In addition to attacking each other, they also pushed and obstructed police personnel on duty, preventing them from discharging their duties.

A complaint was received stating that a man, Dunnapothula Raju, suffered a bleeding injury to his nose after being struck with a brick. Another complaint alleged that a woman, Venkatamallu, was assaulted by individuals who grabbed her hair and struck her with their fists.

Based on the complaints, cases were registered, the individuals involved in the clash were arrested, subsequently produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody, DSP Adinarayana said.
