Eight arrested for smuggling spurious cotton seeds in Telangana’s Mancherial

Seeds weighing over 247 kgs worth Rs 6.17 lakh seized; search on for two more accused persons

Mancherial: Eight persons were arrested on charges of smuggling spurious cotton seeds at Achulapur village on Monday and seeds weighing over 247 kgs worth over Rs 6.17 lakh was seized.

Hunt is on to nab two more accused persons. Sharing these details, DCP A Bhaskar said that the arrested were Sheggam Dilip, Gadipalli Satyanarayana, Boge Sai Kiran Kumar, Maidam Narayana, Potlapalli Ramesh, Kunche Venkatesh, Kodipelli Satyam and Puppala Tirupathi. Kingpins of the racket Manohar Reddy and Mallesh were still at large.

They were arrested when they were transporting the seeds in a van to Achulapur. Thandur Inspector Kumara Swamy and Sub-Inspector Kiran Kumar were present.
