During interrogations, Uday Kumar and others confessed to committing the crime to make a fast buck. They admitted to procuring the seeds from Jagadishwar of Prakasam district.

A total of 310 kilograms of seeds, 50 litres of weedicide and two mobile phones were seized.

Disclosing details, Commissioner of Police M Srinivasulu said the seizure took place based on reliable information that spurious cotton seeds were being transported to Maharashtra from Karnataka.

Task force Inspector Sanjay said that Errabothu Raju from Kotthapalli and Thirumalashetti Ramakrishna belonging to Punnuru in Prakasham district of Andhra Pradesh were apprehended for possessing the seeds.
