Eight hospitalised after dead lizard found in chutney at Jagtial eatery

Eight people, including a child, fell ill after consuming chutney contaminated with a dead lizard at a tiffin centre in Jagtial. The victims were hospitalised but are in stable condition.

Jagtial: Eight persons, including a girl child, fell sick after consuming chutney in which a dead lizard was found at a tiffin centre in Jagtial on Friday.

The incident took place at Shivasai Idli centre located at Tahsil chowk. A dead lizard was found in the chutney served to a woman at the eatery. The woman, who noticed the lizard after consuming some portions of chutney, began vomiting immediately.

Besides the woman, seven others who were served the same chutney also developed vomiting and complained of headaches. All of them were shifted to a private hospital where they are undergoing treatment. Their health condition remains stable.

Previously, a similar incident also took place in the same tiffin centre. A cockroach was found in an Idli. As a result, the eatery was closed for a period of one month. Local people have urged the officials to take serious action against the management.
