Khammam police book 250 motorists for drunken driving
Khammam traffic police registered 250 cases of drunken driving during surprise checks held on Wednesday and Thursday as part of New Year safety measures. Of these, seventy-six motorists were caught in Khammam city.
Khammam: Traffic ACP Srinivasulu informed that cases have been registered against 250 persons under Khammam police commissionerate for driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol.
Of them 76 motorists were caught in Khammam city. The traffic police conducted drunken driving checks on Wednesday and Thursday, coinciding with the New Year celebrations, he said.
As part of efforts to prevent road accidents, traffic police have been conducting surprise drunken driving checks on the roads and filing charge sheets in courts against those found driving under the influence of alcohol. Some of those caught during these checks were sentenced, while others were fined, he added.
