Mancherial: Government whip Balka Suman said that elaborate arrangements were made for smooth conduct of maiden Pranahita Pushakaralu at Arjunagutta and Devulawada villages in Kotapalli mandal and Vemanapalli mandal centre from April 13 to 24. He along with Collector Bharati Hollikeri inspected the arrangements at Arjunagutta village in Kotapalli mandal on Tuesday.
Suman stated that pushkaralu festival was going to be organised on a grand note. He said that the event was being conducted for the first time after the creation of Telangana state. Funds about Rs 70 lakh were spent for making the arrangements. He instructed the officials concerned to take steps to prevent inconvenience to devotees during the festival.
Collector Bharati said that 30 temporary toilets, separate dress change rooms for women and men, lighting system, approach roads, sheds, parking lots, drinking water facilities were created and thorny shrubs were cleared at the venues, with the help of the funds. Authorities of the Rural Water Supply, Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, NPDCL, Endowments, etc., departments were assigned to make the arrangements, she added.
About 6 lakh devotees belonging to several parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are expected to take holy dip. TSRTC Adilabad region will operate 44 special buses from Mancherial and Chennur to the venues of the event.
