Mancherial: An elderly woman and her granddaughter were found dead under suspicious circumstances at Gopalwada in the town on Wednesday.
Police said the bodies of Bejjala Satyavathi (50) and Shirisha (4) were discovered on a bed after personnel broke open the house, following a call from Satyavathi’s son, Gangothri, who was touring Khammam.
Originally from Khammam, Satyavathi, her son, and the girl had come to the house, where her younger son once lived, four days ago. Gangothri, who left for Khammam on Tuesday, alerted police when repeated calls to his mother went unanswered. Locals too sought help from police after noticing the door locked for over a day.
The bodies were later shifted to the mortuary at the government general hospital. Inspector Pramod said details of the incident would become clear only after a complaint was lodged by family members. Police said they were examining the possibility of suicide since the house was locked from inside.
Satyavathi’s younger son, a transgender person, had also died under suspicious circumstances two years ago.
