Khammam: Elected members of local bodies have to play an active role in the implementation of Mana Ooru Mana Badi, Zilla Parishad Chairman L Kamal Raju said on Wednesday.
He chaired the ZP general body meeting here on Wednesday. The meeting took up Mana Ooru Mana Badi as the main agenda for discussion at the meeting where the elected members shared their views on the subject.
The State government, he said, had laid focus on the improvement of education and health sectors in Telangana. In order to strengthen the public education system, the government took up Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme to develop infrastructure in government schools, he said.
Kamal Raju asked the local bodies’ members to shoulder the responsibility of identifying the needs in schools by making field level inspections and making them recorded by the officials. Similarly they should also monitor the work’s execution.
The Telangana government has been implementing innovative programmes to fulfill the aspirations of people in the State. Mana Ooru Mana Badi would help to impart quality English medium education to the students in rural areas, MLC T Madhusudhan said.
All the elected members, nodal officers, school management committees members and headmasters have to make collective efforts in consultation with executing agencies to make effective use of the opportunity provided by the government to develop the schools.
Issues like introducing a biometric attendance system in the schools, appointment of sweepers and scavengers would be taken to the notice of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the MLC informed.
The District Collector revealed that as many as 60, 000 students would be benefitted in the first phase implementation of the programme. Officials and elected members from village level to district level have to work together for the success of Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme, he urged.
Tahsildars would be directed to allot government lands to schools that lacked playgrounds. The playgrounds would be developed by engaging NREGS workers. In order to address monkey menace, grills and mesh would be fitted to school buildings, he added.
