Hyderabad: A man has approached the Banjara Hills police alleging a woman, with whom he became friends on Facebook, was threatening and blackmailing him.
The 32-year-old complainant, a resident of Banjara Hills Road No.12, and working as an electrician had in July received a friend request from a profile with ‘Sakshi Varma’ as its name. He accepted the request.
Police said the duo started chatting and subsequently, the suspect woman allegedly started making video calls. In the video calls, the suspect often was half dressed and also asked the victim to do the same and he followed her instructions. During this, she is suspected to have recorded the calls, using which she started demanding money through crypto currency. If he did not pay up, the video clips would be publicized, she threatened him.
Apart from the woman, a few of her associates too started harassing him. He then approached the police and lodged a complaint. The Banjara Hills police booked a case and are investigating.
