Emerging techs now part of curriculum: ICAI chief

Hyderabad: Updating knowledge, keeping abreast with the latest and learning latest technologies is essential to excel in the profession of cost and management accountants. To keep abreast with the changes happening in the professional world, ICAI is teaching students as part of the curriculum, aspects such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, cyber security and data analytics, said Biswarup Basu, president, ICAI.
After inaugurating the Hyderabad Chapter’s renovated buildings at Himayatnagar and Sanathnagar on Sunday, Basu said, with 111 chapters all over India and eleven overseas centres, ICAI is becoming a global body.
He appealed to the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to change the institutes’ name to The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of India, as all over the world the profession is known as Cost and Management Accountants (CMAs).
The Institute is the second largest cost & management accounting body in the world and the largest in Asia, having approximately 5,00,000 students and 85,000 qualified CMAs either in practice or in employment all over the globe. The Institute as a part of its obligation regulates the profession of Cost and Management Accountancy.
