Khammam: District Collector VP Gautham has directed gram panchayat officials to enforce Covid norms such as maintaining physical distance and wearing face masks in the villages to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

He told the village officials to impose a fine of Rs 1000 on those who failed to wear face masks in public places. The Collector visited several villages in Karepalli, Kamepalli and Raghunathapalem mandals in the district on Tuesday to monitor the dry-day implementation.

He visited the residences of persons who had recovered from Covid-19 at Madharam village in Karepalli mandal. During his interactions with them he told them to follow the doctor’s advice and to take medicines regularly.

Gautham made door to door visits in the villages. Speaking to the villagers and gram panchayat officials he stressed on the need of following dry-day twice in a week to prevent seasonal diseases and to carry out fogging and spraying bleaching powder in the habitations.

Similarly, care has to be taken to avoid water stagnation in the house surroundings. Discarded tyres, utensils and others have to be drained out regularly while clearing the rainwater stagnation, he suggested.

The Collector planted saplings at Koyachelaka by-pass road in Raghunathapalem mandal and inspected the site marked for developing Bruhat Palle Prakruti Vanam at Mucherla village of Kamepalli mandal.

DM&HO, Dr. B Malathi, DRDO, Vidyachandana and others accompanied the Collector.

Steps towards completing administrative processes concerning forest department works and collection of charges needed to be taken. A joint team of officials of concerning departments has to make field visits in order to complete the works related to their departments, he suggested.
