Karimnagar: In the wake of spurt in Covid positive cases, district administration has decided to strictly enforce Covid protocol and impose fine to the people who are found without face masks from Wednesday onwards.
It is also decided to take serious action against organisers who conduct functions or meetings by violating Covid norms. Besides frequent checking, random tests also would be carried out to people. The drive will start from Karimnagar market area on Wednesday.
“Officials will act seriously against political parties and leaders who organise rallies and meetings without following norms in Huzurabad in the eve of by-polls,” District Collector RV Karnan and Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana said in a joint press conference here on Tuesday.
The Collector appealed to the people to wear face masks, wash hands frequently, and maintain physical distance to protect themselves from deadly virus. Though 85 per cent of the people got their first dose of vaccine, it was necessary to follow norms to check the spread of the virus. He warned people that serious action would be taken against those who failing to wear face masks and maintain physical distance.
Compared to earlier, the number of Coronavirus tests were enhanced during the last 10 days. Every day, about 8,000 tests have been done as against 5,000 earlier. Though the positivity rate is very less, they have decided to take precautionary measures to check the spread of the virus. Of 2.14 lakh tests done from July 1 to August 1, only 1.7 percent people were tested positive for the virus.
If a person was infected by the virus, ten of his/her primary contacts were alerted to undergo a test. An isolation center was established if a positive case was recorded in a village. A total of 30 isolation centers were being operated in Gangadhara, Kothapalli, Huzurabad, Saidapur and Chigurumamidi, where the highest number of cases was reported.
Our 8.35 lakh tests done in the district so far, 60,000 people were infected by the virus and 97 percent of them were recovered. 2,400 active cases were there in the district.
CP Satyanarayana informed to enforce Covid norms by forming 50 special police teams. If they failed to change their attitude, law breakers would be produced in the court by registering cases. After 10 days, they would take further decision after reviewing the situation, CP informed and added to conduct random testing by deploying mobile testing vehicles.
When asked about political rallies and meetings being organised by political parties in Huzurabad by violating covid norms, he said all steps would be taken to follow norms while taking out rallies and meetings.
