Karimnagar: Collector RV Karnan instructed officials to take steps to strictly implement the model in the erstwhile Karimnagar district since the Election Commission of India released a schedule to elect MLCs belonging to the old Karimnagar district. The Collector conducted a meeting with Additional Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, RDOs, Zilla Parish CEOs from Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jagtial and Rajanna-Sircilla districts at the camp office here on Thursday.
Karnan instructed officials to prepare electoral rolls of two MLC seats that are going to face election from erstwhile Karimnagar district. Informing that notification for polls would be released on November 16, he asked the officials to submit the voter’s list by 10 am on Friday. He also wanted the officials to submit the voter list of municipal councillors, corporators, ZPTCs, and MPTCs since they participate in MLC voting.
Distribution and reception centres for polls would be established in Karimnagar. Since the schedule was released, the model code came into force from November 10. According to EC’s instructions, everybody should follow Covid norms by washing hands frequently and maintaining a physical distance. Officials, who would participate in polls, should take a double dose of the Covid vaccine.
Collector informed to constitute checking teams, flying squads, static teams, and video capturing teams. Additional Collectors Shyamprasad Lal (Karimnagar) and Laxminarayana (Peddapalli), Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Yadagiri Rao, RDOs Anand Kumar, Madhuri, and Srinivas Rao and others participated in the meeting.
