Warangal Rural: The Department of English, Government Degree College (GDC), Narsampet, celebrated the birth anniversary of world-famous playwright and litterateur William Shakespeare which is also English Language Day, on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion the Principal Lt Dr B Chandramouli stressed the importance of the English language in today’s world and spoke at length on the biography of William Shakespeare and his works.
The IQAC Coordinator and the Head Department of English Dr A Srinath, who delivered a lecture on the life and works of William Shakespeare, cited quotes of Shakespeare from his plays like Hamlet and others. The Vice Principal T Ramesh briefed about the greatness of the legendary figure William Shakespeare. “At the time he was writing, in the 16th and 17th centuries, the English language was going through a lot of changes and Shakespeare’s creativity with language meant he contributed hundreds of new words and phrases that are still used today,” they added.
The faculty members Dr B Vishnu Kumar, Dr J Lakan Singh, Dr T Sumathi, and others were present in the programme.
