Hyderabad: The Cabinet sub-committee has decided to recommend to the State Cabinet the introduction of English medium in Classes I to VIII in all government schools from the next academic year.

The decision came during a meeting of the sub-committee, constituted on introduction of English medium in government schools and fee regulation in private educational institutions, held by Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy along with Ministers KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao and others on Wednesday.


The sub-committee also decided to discuss the issue with Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and formulate necessary guidelines and also asked officials to make necessary arrangements prior to the introduction of English medium, including printing of bilingual textbooks and infrastructure anticipating an increase in admissions due to the move.

The officials were also directed to provide special training to teachers and to use services of T-SAT to offer special courses to students.

On fee regulation in private educational institutions, the sub-committee discussed methods followed by other States and to meet again before a final decision.
