Ensure nutritional supplement to women, children: Collector to officials
Sikta asked the officials to implement Poshan Abhiyan, Poshan Pakwada and sanitation drives in rural parts of the district and to create awareness among the public about the schemes.
Adilabad: Collector Sikta Patnaik instructed the authorities concerned to ensure provision of nutritional supplement to the children, pregnant women and women. She convened a review meeting with officials of Child and Women Development, Panchayat Raj, Child Protection and Sakhi Centre, one stop destination for women in crisis, on Friday.
Sikta asked the officials to implement Poshan Abhiyan, Poshan Pakwada and sanitation drives in rural parts of the district and to create awareness among the public about the schemes. She told the authorities concerned to publicise activities of Sakhi Centre. She directed them to explain to the people that women and girls could find shelter and avail counseling at the facility for free.
The IAS officer further instructed the authorities to sensitise the rural folks over women empowerment and protection of girls. She advised them to involve women in meetings and programmes in villages. She underlined the need to have coordination among the officials of various departments in implementing the schemes meant for women and children. District Welfare Officer Milka said that 86 percent of kitchen gardens were complete in the district and 596 Anganwadi centres were covered through Mission Bhageeratha scheme.
She stated that 159 awareness programmes were organised over services of Sakhi centre in the past six months. She added steps were being taken to reduce dropouts and to build toilets for girls in schools.
Additional Superintendent of Police Srinivas Rao, District Panchayat Officer Srinivas, District Child Protection Officer Rajendraprasad and Sakhi Centre Administrator Yashoda were present.
