Hyderabad: Finance Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday instructed irrigation officials to chalk out plans to supply irrigation water to every acre in Andole, Sangareddy, Narayankhed and Zaheerabad Assembly constituencies in the district through Sangameshwara and Basaveshwara lift irrigation projects.
Speaking at a review meeting with irrigation officials and elected representatives here, the Minister said Godavari water would be impounded in Singur through Sangareddy canal from Komuravelly Mallanna Sagar reservoir, which has been built in Siddipet district as part of Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme.
“Since Singur project will have abundant water through the year, two lift irrigation projects should be designed to meet the irrigation needs of these four Assembly constituencies,” he said, adding that the two projects will be named after god Sangameshwara and saint Basaveshwara following directions from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
Stating that the Chief Minister was very particular about supplying irrigation water to these four constituencies, Rao said the government was planning to supply irrigation water to over 2.5 lakh acre through these two lift irrigation projects which will make the district prosperous.
He has also enquired about the progress of works on KLIS packages 17, 18 and 19 in Sangareddy district during the review meeting. He said he would hold a detailed review meeting in Sangareddy District Collectorate soon to discuss these two projects in detail.
MP Medak Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, Sangareddy Chief Engineer Ajay Kumar, Superintending Engineers Muralidhar (Sangareddy) and Yesaiah (Medak) and others were present at the meeting.
