Jangaon: Alleging that the Narendra Modi-led Union government was ruining the lives of the farmers through its acts and policies, Panchayat Raj Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao demanded a categorical statement on the purchase of the paddy and dared the BJP State chief and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay to ensure that the BJP-led government at the Centre make a statement stating that it will purchase paddy from Telangana.
The Minister was speaking at a programme after inaugurating a paddy purchasing centre set up under the auspices of the Farmer Service Cooperative Society (FSCS) at Dardepally village of Palakurthi mandal in the district on Saturday.
The Minister said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is striving for the well-being of the farming community ever since the TRS came to power in the State after achieving the separate State. “In addition to the completion of the pending projects in the State, Kaleswaram Lift Irrigation Scheme ((KLIS) and others are providing a plenty of water in Telangana and crops are thriving,” he said and reminded that the farmers were being provided with Ryhthu Bheema, Rythu Bandhu, and free and quality uninterrupted electricity supply for 24 hours.
“Due to these efforts, there were no suicides of farmers in the State,” he said. Errabelli, however, alleged that the Centre was showing an indifferent attitude to the farmers of Telangana. “It has brought anti-farmer laws, and now it is adamant that it would not buy the paddy,” he said.
