Hyderabad: It was a reunion of hearts, literally.
Well, students of the 1975 batch of Erramanzil Government High School in the City, which was one of the preferred educational institutions in the City, assembled to celebrate the golden jubilee celebrations with a touch of warmth and obviously going down memory lane on Sunday evening.
Former teachers Mrs. Hyamavathi, Mrs. Sikander and Head Mistress Mrs.Shantabai Rathod, whose relentless fight has stopped Government from demolition of present old building till a new building is constructed, Head Master Mr Jayaprakash were the guests of honor and it was quite a fitting gesture as the proud teach staff of yesteryears seemed to be immensely pleased with many of their students going to make it big in their own profession.
The students rendered the national anthem on the occasion, remembering their school days and then K. Seshadri rendered the Saraswati prayer and G.K. Kumar traced the history of the school.
One of the highlights of the evening was when Mrs. Hymavathi went to her old ‘class room’ and addressed the students, rekindling memories of the past for many of them.
In a touching gesture the teaching staff of yesteryears were felicitated.
And, importantly, the teaching staff now mentoring the school students enlightened the gathering about their efforts to construct a new school building in the vicinity of the existing structure.
The evening ended with the alumni of Erramanzil School freezing the moments in their mobile cameras for posterity with the promise that they would continue to meet regularly and re-live what they believed to be a “glorious past”.
