Etala challenges Revanth Reddy to prove lack of cabinet nod for Kaleshwaram project
BJP MP Etala Rajender challenged CM Revanth Reddy to prove that the Kaleshwaram project lacked cabinet approval, asserting due procedure was followed. He also demanded a swift probe, criticised the Congress party’s track record, and urged urgent Medigadda repairs
“If the Chief Minister proves me wrong, I am prepared to quit politics,” Rajender told mediapersons here.
He asserted that former Chief Minister and BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao had always directed Ministers to seek cabinet approval for major decisions. “Every decision was taken after cabinet ratification. How can any project be taken up without cabinet approval?” he asked.
The Malkajgiri MP also accused the Chief Minister of politicising the Kaleshwaram project. “It was constructed to meet the irrigation needs of farmers. If needed, all documents related to meetings and decisions on the project will be shared with the Chief Minister. He should study them and refrain from making baseless allegations,” Rajender said.
Recalling the Congress party’s record, Rajender pointed out that several irrigation projects launched during its tenure were not completed on time. “Pranahita Chevella, taken up under the Jala Yagnam scheme, was meant to be completed in five years. Why was it delayed?” he asked.
He demanded that the Congress government expedite the Commission’s probe into the Kaleshwaram project and expose any irregularities. “The BJP is not against any irrigation project. We are against the misuse of power and the allocation of contracts without floating tenders,” he said.
Rajender also urged the Chief Minister to prioritise repair works at the Medigadda barrage and ensure uninterrupted water supply to farmers.
