Nirmal: Superintendent of Police Dr Janaki Sharmila clarified that no new cases were booked against farmers of Dilawarpur and Gundampalli villages as circulated on social media platforms. She issued a statement here on Tuesday.
Sharmila said that cases were registered against the farmers when they staged protests against the establishment of an ethanol manufacturer and notices were served on the protestors. No attempt-to-murder case was registered against the farmers, she said.
However, some anti-social elements were intentionally creating rumours stating that fresh cases were booked against farmers and were spreading false information on social media platforms and newspapers, she said, warning of stringent action against those who circulate fake messages.
