Everyone should become child rights defender: Mancherial Collector

Collector Bharati Hollikeri giving away certificates of appreciation to winners of competitions during Children's Day held in Mancherial on Friday.

Mancherial: Collector Bharati Hollikeri said that today’s children were citizens of the future and advised them to enhance their knowledge by excelling in academics. She was the chief guest of Children’s Day celebrations held at a function hall here on Friday. She was accompanied by Mancherial ACP Akhil Mahajan.

The Collector advised the children to cultivate good habits and to be healthy to build a bright future and suggested they follow personal hygiene and question unacceptable practices in society. She told them to achieve self-reliance and gain a wide range of knowledge in all sectors. Everyone is responsible for protecting the rights of children guaranteed by the Constitution, she said.

Mahajan advised the children to utilise modern Information and Communication Technologies to improve their innovation and to excel in a field. He requested them to respond to crimes, injustice and illegal activities occurring in the society, adding that the police department was taking a slew of measures to prevent abuse of child rights and assaults against kids.

District Welfare Officer D Uma Devi, ChildLine director Father Jijo, district coordinator Satynarayna, District Child Protection Officer Anand, Child Welfare Committee chairman Wahid, ICDS supervisors and students attended the celebrations.
