EVs to watch out for at Bharat Mobility Global Expo
From compact SUVs to luxury ones, auto majors have lined up their best in technology and design at the auto expo being held from January 17-22 in New Delhi
Hyderabad: Electric vehicles (EVs) will be the head-turners at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, scheduled from January 17 to 22 in New Delhi. The expo, with its theme of ‘Beyond Boundaries: Co-creating Future Automotive Value Chain’, will feature the latest advancements in EVs.
Further, with the government providing an 80% subsidy for fast charging stations nationwide with exceptional cases receiving up to 100% under the PM e-drive scheme, the focus on sustainable derive has been like never before.
An electrified version of its popular SUV, Creta Electric will come in two battery pack choices – 42 kWh with an ARAI (range figures for EVs developed by the Automotive Research Association of India) range of 390 km and 51.4 kWh with an ARAI range of 473 km. Likely price: between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 20 lakh.
Maruti e Vitara
The e Vitara will be Maruti’s first EV in the Indian market. Has features like dual digital screen, wireless phone charger and front ventilated seats. Can run approximately 550 km on a single charge. Expected price: Rs 22 lakh- 25 lakh.
Tata Harrier EV
The stable’s first electric SUV, Harrier EV is built on Act.ev platform and offers up to 600 km range. Likely to have advanced feature such as V2l/V2V charging, 12.3 inch touch screen, 36 degree camera and panoramic sunroof. Cost: around Rs 25 lakh.
MG Cyberster
With a 77 kWh battery pack, Cyberster would deliver a range of up to 570 km on a single charge. Will be positioned under the luxury sports car segment. Cost: around Rs 80 lakh.
Mahindra BE 6, XUV e9
Equipped with a 59 kWh battery pack, BE 6 would offer a range of approximately 450 km. XUV e9 is expected to have a 79 kWh battery, providing a range of up to 500 km. Starting price of BE 6: around Rs 19 lakh, XUV e9: around Rs 22 lakh.
Porsche Macan BEV
Porsche forays into the electric SUV segment in India with Macan BEV. Expected to have a 95 kWh battery pack, offering 590 km. Likely to support DC fast charging, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in around 21 minutes. Triple-screen setup (infotainment, driver, and passenger displays), along with amenities such as a four-zone automatic climate control system put the SUV under the luxury EV segment. Price: around ₹1.22 crore.
Porsche Taycan
Taycan will have two battery packs — an 89 kWh and an optional 105 kWh. Expected price: Rs 1.89 crore.
BYD Atto 2
With a 42.4 kWh battery pack, it is expected to offer a range of 312 km. Heated and powered front seats, a panoramic sunroof and a dual digital display setup are some of the features. Will cater to premium compact SUV segment. Cost: around Rs 1 crore.
BYD Sealion 7
Multiple battery pack options that would offer a range of up to 502 km. Prices to be announced by the first half of 2025.
Mercedes-Benz EQG 580
EQG 580 is an electrified version of its iconic G-Class SUV. The G 580 houses a 116 kWh battery pack. Offers a range of 473 km on a fully charged battery. Was launched recently in India. Price: Rs 3 crore.
Mercedes Maybach EQS 680 Night Series
Features a dark exterior. Boasts of 560 km range.
Vayve Eva
India’s first solar-powered car, Eva boasts an operating cost of Rs 0.5 per km. The battery pack of 14 kWh would offer a range of 250 km. The solar panel can provide an extra 10 km range every day, adding up to 3,000 km every year, according to reports. Eva from the Pune-based company comes with a dual digital display, 6-way powered driver seats and a driver airbag. Expected price: Rs 7 lakh.
Kia Syros
The Kia Syros will be positioned in the affordable EV segment. Expected to offer a range of up to 355 km and will likely be priced between Rs 15-lakh and Rs 20 lakh.
