Adilabad: Former minister Jogu Ramanna was detained for calling for purification of the Chanaka-Korata project, following the inauguration of a pump house by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy here on Saturday.
Ramanna expressed anger at the police for barging into his house and detaining him.
He asked as to why Revanth Reddy, who failed to irrigate a single acre, inaugurated the pump house. He stated that Revanth Reddy’s arrival at the project would result in drying up agriculture fields. He reasoned that they would perform a ritual to purify the project.
The former minister recalled that the BRS government earmarked a huge chunk of funds and constructed the interstate irrigation project for Adilabad district which was deprived of the irrigation facilities for quite a long time.
He alleged that Revanth Reddy was stealing credit for irrigation facilities by inaugurating pump houses and irrigation projects built during the BRS regime.
