Khammam: Sugarcane crushing for the 2025-26 season started at Madhucon Sugar and Power Industries Limited in Rajeswarapuram village in Nelakondapalli mandal in the district on Monday.
Former Khammam BRS MP and factory founder Nama Nageswara Rao launched the crushing after performing a pooja along with his wife Chinnamma on the factory premises. He said that for the first time in the country, farmers who supply a tonne of sugarcane would be given half a kilo of sugar free in the season at the request of farmers.
Interacting with farmers, he said that despite facing huge financial losses since the factory was purchased, the unit was being run for the welfare of the farmers. Thousands of farmers and their families have faith in the factory and because of this the factory was being run with commitment, he said.
In addition to providing the highest support price per tonne that no other sugar factory in the State has given, Madhucon Sugar Factory was providing a higher subsidy than the subsidy announced by the government to the farmers, Nageswara Rao said.
He appealed to the farmers to cultivate sugarcane extensively and contribute to the development of the factory, saying that with this the farmers would also develop. He added that development of farmers was important to him.
He said the factory Managing Director Nama Krishnaiah was working tirelessly for the development of the factory and wanted the staff to work with dedication. Farmers thanked Nageswara Rao for making efforts to run the factory even as many sugar factories in several States in the country were being closed.
Assistant Cane Commissioner Ravinder Rao, the company Assistant Vice President Y Kotaiah, DGM Cane Appa Rao, AGM (HR) Naresh and others were present.
