Hyderabad: A former software engineer who was allegedly cultivating ganja plants on the terrace of his house was arrested by Prohibition and Excise Department sleuths on Monday. The sleuths seized 17 marijuana plants that could yield 10 kilograms of ganja.

The man, Ch Shashidhar, had worked in a software company and left the job after allegedly getting addicted to ganja. “While working, Shashidhar spent his entire salary on ganja. Now, with no means to purchase ganja, he procured some seeds and started growing ganja plants in pots on the terrace of his house,” said Assistant Commissioner, Excise and Prohibition Department, R Kishan.

On specific information, the Rangareddy district enforcement team led by an inspector raided the house located in East Gandhinagar, Nacharam. A case has been registered.
