Khammam: CPI Telangana Rythu Sangham president B Hemantha Rao has accused the Congress Government of being complacent in implementing crop loan waiver and adopting an indifferent approach.
There was confusion over loan waiver and loans of less than Rs 1 lakh were not waived for many farmers.
The sangham staged a dharna at the collectorate on Monday demanding loan waiver for all eligible farmers.
Hemantha Rao said that the government has promised to waive the loans of farmers up to Rs 2 lakhs, but it failed to deliver the promise. The delay in loan waiver was causing distress to the farmers.
He appealed to apply the waiver to non-rescheduled loans taken before 2018. The government should consider the fact that the farmers could not pay the agricultural loans due to natural calamities and losses in agriculture.
The sangham leader demanded that the bonus of Rs.500 should be applied to coarse paddy. He wanted Rythu Bima and crop insurance implemented in an effective manner. CPI district secretary P Prasad, assistant secretary Dandi Dasuresh and others were present.
