Ever since a major outage hit WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram recently, many users started receiving audio or text messages saying that WhatsApp has been banned or that they will be charged for using the app in the future.

It is also claimed that the instant messaging app is going to be restricted from 11:30 pm to 6:00 am every day due to the new Modi government policy. The message further urges users to forward the message or else the account would get deactivated and will be charged as well.

Such messages were circulated earlier as well. However, there was a different name and a fine amount.

Neither Facebook-owned WhatsApp nor the central government has officially said anything about the service being charged or banned which clearly indicates that the news is nothing but fake news. Neither WhatsApp is going to be blocked or banned in India nor have to pay any fine to use it.
