Fake tiger video from Kawal Reserve goes viral, sparks panic in Mancherial
A fake video of a tiger in Kawal Tiger Reserve went viral on Friday, sparking panic in Mancherial. Forest officials clarified the clip was from another state and urged the public not to trust unverified social media content.
Mancherial: A fake video of a tiger purportedly moving in Kawal Tiger Reserve went viral on social media platforms on Friday, triggering panic among locals.
The video of a tiger sitting on a culvert near a road between Singarayapeta and Dongapalli villages in Jannaram mandal was widely shared on WhatsApp groups, YouTube and Facebook. However, Forest officials confirmed that a video of a tiger belonging to another state, originally posted in the past , surfaced on the internet. They advised the public not to trust rumors and unconfirmed news circulated on social media platforms.
The officials further said that certain users reshare the fake videos to grab attention of users of the platforms whenever the region sees migration of tigers and attacks humans. Tigers from Maharashtra’s Tadoba and Tipeshwar Tiger Reserves continue to disperse into the forests of Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial and Adilabad districts in search of territory.
