False ceiling collapses at Husnabad RTC bus station

A false ceiling at the Husnabad RTC bus station collapsed in the early hours of Thursday following continuous rains. No passengers were injured as the incident occurred when the station was largely empty. Passengers sought a probe into the incident.

Siddipet: The quality of modernisation works taken up at the Husnabad RTC bus station was exposed as the false ceiling collapsed in the early hours of Thursday. Luckily, no passenger was injured in the incident as none were standing there when it happened.

The incident happened at the constituency headquarters of Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar. The modernisation works were taken up with an outlay of Rs two crore months after the Congress came to power in 2024. The works were completed just a year ago.

Since the area witnessed continuous rains during the past couple of days, water leaked into the false ceiling, which collapsed on a platform where buses were parked for passengers to board. Since the incident happened during the early hours, there were no passengers waiting. The passengers urged the government to launch a probe into the incident. They demanded that the government initiate action against the contractor.
