Khammam: A man and his family members attempted suicide at Chintakani tahsildar office in the district on Thursday.
According to the sources, 80-year-old Yellavula Sitaramulu has a son and three daughters. He was staying with one of his daughters, Sunkari Lakshmi, who was taking care of him as his son Yellavula Krishna had neglected him. Seetaramulu made a gift deed for 30 guntas of the three acre he owns in the name of Lakshmi. Krishna, who wanted the entire property, alleged that the land transaction was illegal, and created ruckus at the tahsildar office along with his wife and children.
Krishna and his wife had an altercation with tahsildar D Tirumala Chary over the issue and later doused themselves with petrol and threatened to set themselves ablaze. The locals and the police prevented them.
Chary later told the media that Sitaramulu made a gift deed at Sub-registrar office in Khammam last August and its mutation was carried out this month through Dharani portal at Chintakani.
