Hyderabad: Family members of Burnigani Sanjeeva, a 60-year-old Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board employee, who was declared brain dead by doctors, have donated his organs to patients in need under the state-run organ donation initiative.

The government employee, who worked as a telephone operator at the Patancheru division of HMWS and SB, collapsed at his residence on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. The family members immediately rushed Sanjeeva to a local hospital and later shifted him to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad.

The water board employee was under ICU care in the hospital, but his health condition did not improve. On Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 4.53 pm, the attending team of doctors declared him brain dead.

Consent to donate organs, including two kidneys, was given by his son Prem Kumar. Jeevandan has extended its heartfelt gratitude to the family members of Sanjeeva for taking the decision to donate his organs to two needy patients. With this donation, the total number of organ donations taken up in Telangana under the Jeevandan programme has reached 24.
