Mancherial: Family members of a woman, who allegedly died by suicide after being harassed by a man from the district under the guise of love at Tekumatla village in Jaipur mandal, staged a sit-in on a road here on Monday, demanding justice.
Police said that Madhavi from Tekumatla ended her life by hanging herself at her residence on Sunday. She allegedly resorted to the drastic step as she was depressed after being harassed by Venkatesh, a coal miner from the village. Her body was shifted to the Government General Hospital in the town.
Madhavi’s family members and relatives blocked traffic at IB Chowk, seeking justice. They alleged that Venkatesh harassed Madhavi in the name of love, forcing her to end her life. They demanded that the police arrest the coal miner and take stern action. However, they withdrew the protest after the police assured them of justice.
Vehicular movement was diverted after traffic was blocked on one lane for over two hours. Motorists faced inconvenience due to the protest and expressed displeasure over the traffic diversion.
