Family of brain-dead realtor donates organs through Jeevandan in Hyderabad
Family members of 53-year-old realtor Guntakandla Karunakar Reddy from Rangareddy district donated his organs after he was declared brain dead at a Hyderabad hospital. The lungs and liver were retrieved and allocated to needy patients under the State-run Jeevandan initiative.

Hyderabad: Family members of a 53-year-old realtor from Rangareddy district, Guntakandla Karunakar Reddy, who was declared brain dead, have donated his organs to needy patients as part of the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.
On March 3 morning, Karunakar Reddy, a resident of Chintalakunta, Rangareddy district, collapsed at his residence and was rushed to a private hospital in Hyderabad.
After receiving emergency treatment at the hospital, his health condition did not improve and he was declared brain dead by doctors on Thursday.
Swapna, the bereaved wife of Karunakar Reddy, gave consent to donate his organs and surgeons retrieved the lungs and liver, which were allocated to needy patients, according to Jeevandan.
