Hyderabad: In a significant development, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations had recognised the growing prominence of Telangana State as the global seed hub. The FAO invited Telangana State Seed and Organic Certification Authority (TSSOCA) Director K Keshavulu to address the global seeds conference scheduled to be held in Rome on November 4 and 5.
Keshavulu will address the global seeds conference on the topic ‘A Success Story of India: Telangana State as a Global Seed Hub’, as suggested by the FAO authorities. This is a major indication of the State’s growing prominence in the seeds development industry. He will explain in detail about the development of Telangana State into a seed bowl of the world, as well as available infrastructure, opportunities, industry capacity and quality seed production among others.
The rare recognition will go a long way in promoting more seed exports from the State, boosting the seed industry as well as seed trade, making Telangana a leader in the seed production. The entire talk will be telecast in English, Spanish and French. About 195 delegations including Ministers, FAO representatives, seed industry representatives, and scientists, are participating in the conference.
