Farmer drowns in Kaddam canal while irrigating paddy crop in Mancherial

A 39-year-old farmer, Kova Annu, drowned in a canal of the Kaddam Narayana Reddy project in Mancherial district while attempting to irrigate his field. Police registered a case following a complaint from his family and began an investigation.

Mancherial: A 39-year-old farmer drowned in a canal of the Kaddam Narayana Reddy project at Jenda Venkatapur village in Luxettipet mandal on Sunday evening. His body was retrieved on Monday.

Police said that Kova Annu from Pochampalli village met a watery grave when he was attempting to turn on a motor to irrigate his paddy crop. He slipped into the canal and drowned as he did not know how to swim.


Annu is survived by his wife and three children. Kova Jangu, a sibling of the farmer, lodged a complaint with the police. A case was registered and investigations have been taken up.
