Sangareddy: Most parts of the erstwhile Medak district witnessed heavy rains on Thursday morning, causing heavy loss to the farmers who were waiting with their paddy at procurement centres.

The rains, which lashed on Wednesday evening, continued till Thursday morning after a brief break.

The farmers, who have been waiting at procurement centres for more than a fortnight, have been struggling to protect their produce from the untimely rains, due to lack of tarpaulins.

Since the IMD is predicting more rains in these parts of the State for the next few days, the farmers demanded the government to procure the paddy without any delay.
