Nizambad: After facing several hardships due to the delay in procurement of their stocks in Yasangi season, farmers are now struggling to obtain urea bags for the Vanakalam season.

They are also demanding the Congress government to abolish the app-based booking and delivery of urea bags. This demand was made by the farming community during the commencement of last season as well.

Farmers at the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS) in Padmajiwadi in Yellareddy constituency of Kamareddy fumed at the Congress government for its negligence towards the farming community.

Farmers had gathered in large numbers at the PACS and waited for their turn in serpentine queues to obtain urea bags.

After several attempts, many managed to book the bags in the app and accordingly 1,000 bags had arrived at this centre. However, officials could not distribute the bags, citing server issues and other technical snags, the farmers complained according to reports.

They fumed that despite booking in the app in advance officials were not providing the required bags. They also charged that serial number system was not being followed and those, who favoured the ruling party, were accorded priority in distribution of bags.

These issues were not limited to Padmajiwadi but farmers at Adloor and Utanur centres faced similar problems. Irked over the delay, farmers at Utanur centre entered into argument with officials and charged that despite waiting for turn since 5 a.m. they were not able to get bags, reports said.

Many farmers complained about the challenges they faced in booking bags in the app. Apart from mobile network issues and handling smart phones, farmers said it was cumbersome process to book bags in the app.

They demanded the State government to do away with the app-based booking system and wanted the manual system to be reintroduced.
