Farmers protest for urea in Karimnagar
Farmers staged a protest at the PACS sub-centre in Karimpet, Karimnagar, on Tuesday demanding urea distribution. With many unable to procure fertiliser earlier, elderly farmers sought priority. Police intervened and ensured distribution continued under supervision.
Karimnagar: Farmers staged a protest at the PACS sub-centre in Karimpet of Shankarapatnam mandal on Tuesday, demanding urea distribution.
Though 230 bags of urea were supplied to the centre about 20 days ago, several farmers who had queued up were unable to get the fertiliser. On learning that a fresh stock had arrived, a large number of farmers gathered at the centre on Tuesday morning.
Fearing they would miss out again, elderly farmers who had failed to secure urea earlier demanded priority in distribution before others.
Alerted about the protest, police reached the spot and pacified the agitating farmers. Urea distribution was later taken up under police supervision.
